Applying to The Institute
Applications are web-based and accessed through the link on the right. The Institute processes applications to the Graduate Degree Programs using an online program called “Apply Yourself.” To apply to The Institute, visit the link in the right-hand sidebar.
Applications to the Masters Programs are currently accepted on a rolling admissions basis. The program begins in July; therefore applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible as space does fill quickly. PhD applications must be received by January 15.
Recommendation letters: Submit three completed recommendations from individuals who are able to assess your intellectual ability and goals. Students or recent graduates may secure recommendations from academic sources; applicants who have been working full-time for a year or more should submit at least one recommendation from a supervisor. For applicants who have been away from academic study for two years or more, it is suggested that all three recommendation letters be from professional sources.
Résumé or curriculum vitae: Please upload a copy of your current CV or résumé. Be certain to include your name, career objective or current position, education, and three to four brief entries describing your experiences.
Application fee: A non-refundable application fee of $50.00 is required for all applicants. Payment should be made online when submitting your application.
Transcripts: Official transcripts are required from all colleges or universities attended, undergraduate or graduate, regardless of whether a degree was earned. Official transcripts should be sent directly to the address listed below from the institution providing them. Transfer credits that appear on other transcripts are not an acceptable substitute for an official transcript from the school from which you transferred. Student copies of transcripts are not acceptable.
GRE/MCAT Scores: Applicants to the MPH and MS Programs without an advanced or professional degree must submit results from the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). Scores must be within the past five years. GRE and MCAT information is available from ETS at 609.771.7670. All applicants to the PhD Program must submit GRE scores. Official copies of GRE or MCAT scores should be sent directly to the address listed below.
To send your GRE scores to The Institute, please use the following codes: the code for Dartmouth is 3351 and the department code is 0616. This will ensure that your scores are sent directly to The Institute program.
TOEFL Scores: Applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit scores for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), unless they have graduated from an undergraduate or graduate institution where instruction is primarily in English.
