Master of Public Health
Program of Study
The MPH program is one year in length for students enrolled full-time. Part-time students can complete the program in two or three years.
MPH students are required to take other courses necessary to meet the requirements for the public health core competencies. To qualify for graduation, MPH students must complete the core courses, an internship, a culminating project, and a balance of required courses or electives for a total of 56 credits.
Cost of Study
Tuition is charged at the same rate as other graduate programs at Dartmouth. For 2007-2008, tuition for four terms is $46,620. In addition, health insurance is required for students and may be purchased for dependents. Students must purchase their own books, course materials, and laptop computer.

Through the online admission process, applicants are asked to provide a written statement expressing their interest in the MPH program at The Institute and what their goals are within this field of endeavor. In addition, three letters of reference and all official transcripts are required. The application fee is $50. Admissions are made on a rolling basis; we will accept applications on a space-available basis until May 1. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible as space is limited.
Applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit scores for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), unless they have graduated from an undergraduate or graduate institution where instruction is primarily in English.
Admission Policy
It is the longstanding policy of Dartmouth College to actively support equality of opportunity for all persons regardless of race or ethnic background, and no student shall be denied admission or be otherwise discriminated against because of race, color, sex, religion, national or ethnic origin, or handicap. The College’s equal opportunity program aims to provide encouragement to women and members of minority groups to apply to the graduate programs.
