Each joint program offers substantial training in the health policy and clinical practice as well as expertise in health care delivery and management.
The MD/PhD Program At the doctoral level, the MD/PhD joint program is available. When MD/PhD students first enroll, they typically begin their PhD work - to become adept with the tools of research, examining illness and its causes up close. Then they build on this knowledge with the expertise involved in clinical training, learning to diagnose and treat disease effectively through their learning in the MD program. In their quest for research answers to clinical problems, graduates of the Dartmouth MD/PhD Program combine the strengths of scientific investigation with the practical applications of basic knowledge — all for the sake of improving the quality of their patients' lives.
