Leadership Preventive Medicine Residency
The first preventive medicine residency of its kind in the nation is being offered jointly by The Institute and the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Residents will earn an MPH degree and have the opportunity to translate this knowledge into a major patient care improvement project.
Residents will gain knowledge and skills to:
• measure outcomes
• lead change and improvement in health care systems
• improve individual patient care
• improve care of patient populations
The program is offered in conjunction with the existing clinical residency and fellowship programs in:
• Anesthesiology
• Family Practice
• Internal medicine
• Neurology
• Obstetrics and Gynecology
• Pathology
• Pediatrics
• Radiology
• Surgery
The program is the usual length of the resident’s “home” specialty program plus two years. Residents will receive individual mentoring by designated department coaches, who will also help in the identification, formulation and completion of a practicum project.
